There are many attractions in and around Carcassonne and you need never be stuck for a day out. Here are some we especially enjoyed: The O2 Adventure Parc at Lac Cavayére is a marvellous experience for children and adults alike and involves making a high wire tour over the fringe of the lake in the very tops of the pine trees. Not for the faint hearted! Chalabre Chateau in the foothills of the Pyrenees is a fantastic day out for all the family. A historic monument with a difference, this old castle has medieval games and craft workshops irresistible to young and old. There are re-enactments of chevalier training, jousting and equine dressage.
Chateau Puivert - on the path of the Troubadours Peyrepertuse - Cathar Castle Montsegur, and other Cathar Castles Last refuge of the Cathars, and an astonishing testimony to the endurance of the Occitan people and the Cathars they sought to protect from the Inquisition. Perched high on a finger of rock the ancient fortress of Montsegur and its medieval village can only be reached on foot. A truly atmospheric place, and the views are fantastic.
Canyoning at Termes Via Ferrata There is nowhere better to discover Extreme Sports than in Languedoc Rousillon where we have a richly diverse landscape offering rock climbing, canyoning, river walking, hiking, kayaking, via ferrata, and parcours. Why not plan a day of discovery with your family, or improve your existing skills, in the company of qualified and highly experienced local instructors.
